Pepper Placer: Daily Star Battle Puzzle

Place 1 or 2 peppers in every row, column and patch, with no two peppers touching, in this daily Star Battle logic puzzle.

How to play

  1. Plant peppers so that every row, every column and every outlined patch holds the same number of peppers: 1 or 2, shown above the board.
  2. No two peppers may touch, not even diagonally.
  3. Tap a square to plant a pepper and tap it again to remove it. Use Mark (or right-click and drag) to dot squares that must stay empty; Undo, Redo and Reset are under the board.
  4. Every puzzle has exactly one solution and can be solved without guessing. A patch that fits inside one row or column uses up that line's peppers, so the rest of the line stays empty; and a square is empty if a pepper there would leave a neighbouring row, column or patch with no room.
  5. Daily puzzles reset at midnight UTC and save progress in this browser. Mild is 1 pepper on a 6 × 6 board, where every move is either a square next to a pepper or the last open square in a row, column or patch; Medium is 1 pepper on 8 × 8 and Picante 2 peppers on 9 × 9. Practice lets you pick a level and generate another puzzle.

A quick example

If a patch lies entirely inside one row on a 1-pepper board, that row's pepper must be in the patch, so every other square in the row stays empty.
